This page contains notes about how I prepare my home prior to leaving for Travel and vacations or other travel.
Before Leaving
- Lock windows and doors.
- Adjust thermostat.
- Take out trash.
- Remove perishable food.
- Stop or manage mail and package deliveries.
- Arrange plant care.
- Arrange pet care if necessary.
- Set lighting timers or smart-home routines.
- Unplug unnecessary appliances.
- Tell a trusted person the travel dates.
- Verify that emergency contact information is available.
- Freeze a cup half filled with water and put a coin on top -> if the coin is still on top when you return, then your refrigerator never defrosted.
